Nothing feels better than a pat on the back, the atta boy/girl. The sense of success in what you accomplished. It’s a great feeling. But the memory may be short lived. For every pat on the back eventually turns into a kick in the butt (hopefully not by the same person). This is called the rollercoaster known as life. There are two definitions at play here, ‘kick in the butt’ may be interpreted as a forceful gesture or message of some kind (usually delivered with good intentions) that acts as motivation to the (previously unmotivated) recipient. Or it may be interpreted as the actual infliction of being kicked in the butt. And, while we do enjoy the pat on the back from those around us, we must and forever remember those who kick us in the butt—either definition applies.
